Beauty comes in different forms yet, we are continuously fed the same images. We love to see black women being represented in different ways. Creative Soul created an amazing project to look at black girls represented in ways we may not have seen before.
Regis and Kahran from Atlanta, the talents behind AfroArt project connected through the passion of “preserving precious moments”. The pair fell in love with each other and in the process, Creative Soul Photography was created. Creative Soul specialise in lifestyle photography and authentic, visual storytelling.
“The AfroArt series is a recognition and celebration of the versatility of black hair and its innate beauty. The purpose of this series is to illustrate the story of our royal past, celebrate the glory of the here and now, and even dare to forecast the future. With this series, we aim to empower children of color to embrace their natural curls and the skin that they’re in. “

It would be great to see more of these projects popping up where collaborations between makeup artists, hairdressers / hairstylists and photographers create new narratives for black girls and women.
